Literature Text

Beautiful to me in darkness:
Voice embracing, touch uniting.
Beautiful to me by moonlight:
Softly silvered, shadows heightened.

Beautiful to me by candlelight:
Eyes reflecting dancing shadows.
Beautiful to me by firelight:
Ruddy gleaming, fire drawn inward.

Beautiful to me by daylight:
Even lighting, mist entrancing.
Beautiful to me by sunlight:
Glowing brightly, golden gleaming.

Beautiful by all or none,
Dark of night or golden sun,
You are all these things in one:
You are my beloved.
This poem was written for and about my husband, when I was 23. The structure should be fairly obvious; it is a recounting of the beauty I see in him under each of the forms of lighting that have played a major role in our lives together.

Although I put some effort into the word-crafting of this piece, the descriptions are accurate and heart-felt. This was, and is, how I see my husband.

To those of you who find beautiful to be an odd word to use to describe a man, all I can say is that I am sorry for your lack of experience in this aspect of life. It was the best word I could think of at the time, and I still consider it to be the most honest and accurate descriptive term.

I could wish no better than this for anyone, within the realm of love. :)

Enchanting and musical...
To feel that way about someone, and have the feeling reciprocated is a wonderful gift...
