Venus Through the Pines II

Description

This is the second in a series of images captured at twilight, by pushing my little BenQ DC1300 digital camera to its uttermost limits. I was torn as to which category to place this picture within, as I'm only just starting to venture into posting any of my photography here, on this site, amid the rather wide range of other types of artistic expression I share here; I settled at last on astrophotography, for although the "astro" element of this piece occupies all of about 5 pixels of it, the entire point of the image is to see if my poor little camera was capable of capturing the light reflected from our sun, off of our neighbouring planet Venus, filtered through our own atmosphere, to light our evening sky, despite competition from the setting sun and rising moon.

I do like the way that the sillouhette of the pines embraces and frames the "Evening Star", while the sunset provides a graduated background of shaded colour, emphasizing each of the distinct elements of this image. I don't know what feelings this conjunction evokes in you, but I have tried to capture and share something of what it evoked in me, or at very least, the pieces which evoked that response.

This is the second of two captures of this same basic view -- the vertical "poster" view; because I find enough difference in my emotional response to each, I find it worthwhile to include both.

This image is completely unaltered by any digital post-processing, other than resizing it for ease of viewing on-screen.
