This Apophysis rendering reminded me strongly of the representations of the Raven, among the native peoples of the Pacific NorthWest region of North America, including the Tlingit, Haida, Tillamook and Quinault tribes. In this part of the world, the Raven is seen as a powerful spirit, among these peoples, who stole the Sun, returning it only after a quest involving much adventure, and the rebirth of the Sun from the daughter of a Chief. This legend is celebrated at Midwinter, just as many other peoples have religious or spiritual remembrances at this time involving the disappearance and rebirth of the Sun. So, I envision this piece as representing a circle made of four depictions of the Raven's eye, surrounded by a formation of single feathers; to me, the dark background evokes the blackness of a Midwinter Night in the far North, with only the Raven's Eye watching from the circle in the sky where the Sun should be.
Created in Apophysis, with no post-processing. However, I expect to revisit this piece, and add a title and border, and possibly make it available as a print, if anyone displays an interest in my doing so.

Simple yet complex and mysterious....and yes, it does evoke a native American feeling.
The only suggestion I would give is perhaps to render it with a higher density- that would make the surrounding bits smoother and more detailed.
Intriguing colors though, and a great fractal!

Thank you! I'm glad that someone else gets the same feeling from this piece that I do. I actually rendered this piece at a fairly high density, if I remember correctly, but the fractal itself is fairly grainy in nature. I will have to try turning the gamma up, and rendering at 2000 again, to see if I can get any more smoothness out of this piece.
I'm glad you like the colours; after my first few pieces, I found that I started really playing with the gradients to do my best to bring out the best in each piece, and it's always nice to hear that it worked.
